Where can I save a few euros if I spend everything I earn?

How to save?

How to set some money aside for investment?

As we approach World Savings Day — celebrated on October 31st in over 80 countries — it’s worth reflecting on how small daily choices can make a real difference in our financial habits.

Interestingly, this date also coincides with Halloween, and in Portugal, with the long-standing tradition of “Pão de Deus” (Bread of God) — born after the 1755 earthquake.

On this day, children go door to door, asking for sweets or food.

But unlike Halloween, in “Pão de Deus” they don’t wear costumes or play tricks — they simply wear their regular clothes, continuing a tradition rooted in solidarity and community.

💡 But how can we save if money doesn’t seem to grow?

I’m not the best example nor the greatest expert — yet it can all start with small mindset shifts.

In Economics as in Science, everything begins with a question:“Why is it this way? Could it be done differently?”

Here’s a simple tip:

👉 Have you thought about buying larger packages when the price per litre, kilo, or unit is lower — and refilling smaller containers for daily use?

It’s a practical and efficient way to save —

and as we say in Portuguese,

“Grain by grain, the hen fills her belly.”

Many small crumbs together make a loaf… or even a cake.

🏡 From saving to investing

Once you start setting aside a bit of money, the next step is choosing how to make it grow.

Some young buyers under 35 can even purchase a home with 100% bank financing, using their savings to cover:

Initial application costs

Document preparation

Or even the first monthly payments.

All these steps — from financing simulations to registry scheduling — can be simplified by your Real Estate Consultant, often at no cost or very low cost.
